T.J. Seipp

Theresa is a postdoctoral researcher at IViR and part of the research team at the AI, Media, and Democracy Lab. Her research concentrates on the governance of AI in the media, the regulation of opinion power, and (digital) media concentration law, with particular emphasis on the implications for media pluralism and local journalism. Her PhD research focused on approaches to regulate platform opinion power in a concentrated digital media ecosystem. During this time, Theresa also spent three months as a visiting newsroom fellow at the Polis (Journalism and Society) think tank based at the Department of Media and Communication at the London School of Economics (LSE).

Theresa holds degrees in International and European Law from the University of Groningen (criminal law and criminology specialisation, LL.B., LL.M. cum laude) and from Ghent University (media and business law specialisation, LL.M.). She previously worked in the field of data protection law and researched at the Leibniz-Institute for Media Research, Hans-Bredow-Institute, in Hamburg on topics related to EU media law.”
