Simone Casiraghi is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Information Law (IViR), where he will be conducting the project “Systemic Risks and Fundamental Rights: investigating Risk Assessments in the Digital Services Act” under the supervision of Joris van Hoboken. Drawing on legal scholarship and Science and Technology Studies (STS) approaches on risk governance and public participation, the project investigates how systemic risks obligations are being interpreted, implemented and possibly contested in practice.

Simone obtained his PhD in Law at the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy, having studied in Milan and at the University of Twente. His research focuses on risk assessments under EU digital regulation, including the GDPR, AI Act, and Digital Services Act, as well as broader questions of legal philosophy and ethics
Welcome to the institute Simone!
