{"id":29461,"date":"2026-03-20T12:11:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T10:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ivir.nl\/?p=29461"},"modified":"2026-03-20T12:18:40","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T10:18:40","slug":"introducing-our-new-visiting-researcher-andrei-pop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ivir.nl\/nl\/introducing-our-new-visiting-researcher-andrei-pop\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing our new visiting researcher: Andrei Pop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-lightest-grey-background-color has-background\"><em><strong>IViR is pleased to introduce our new visiting researcher <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-ivir-red-color\">Andrei Pop<\/mark>. <\/strong><\/em><br><br><em><strong>IViR is committed to welcoming PhD candidates, post-doctoral and senior researchers in the field of information law, to exchange ideas and provide an environment where researchers from different places can learn from each other.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:32% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"213\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ivir.nl\/publicaties\/download\/pop.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29453 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><strong>Andrei Mihai Pop<\/strong>&nbsp;is a PhD candidate in Philosophy of Law at the&nbsp;University of Milan (Statale di Milano), where his research bridges the gap between constitutional tradition and technological disruption.&nbsp;He holds a Master\u2019s degree in Law from the&nbsp;University of Trento, awarded&nbsp;<em>110 cum laude<\/em>, and has cultivated a global legal perspective through academic stays at&nbsp;Newcastle University&nbsp;(UK) and&nbsp;Babes-Bolyai University&nbsp;(Romania).&nbsp;His academic background is further distinguished by advanced specializations in Cybersecurity, AI, and Data Protection at UNIMI, alongside practical experience as a court clerk at the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office of Verona and as a research fellow and project manager at the University of Verona.&nbsp;Andrei also passed the bar exam in 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>His doctoral research, also conducted as a researcher for&nbsp;PagoPA S.p.A., tackles the digital transformation of the&nbsp;Italian Public Administration&nbsp;within the context of a&nbsp;data-driven society. Andrei\u2019s work investigates the profound impact of&nbsp;Artificial Intelligence&nbsp;on fundamental rights, seeking to determine whether the Law can provide the necessary \u201cguardrails\u201d to steer this disruptive&nbsp;<em>techn\u00e9<\/em>. By analyzing the intersection of algorithmic governance and constitutional safeguards, his research aims to ensure that technological advancement does not proceed unchecked but remains anchored to the protection of individual liberties.&nbsp;His recent publications reflect this commitment, focusing on the EU AI Act\u2019s risk-based approach and the ethics of digital governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IViR is pleased to introduce our new visiting researcher Andrei Pop.
