Digital Legal Lab<\/mark><\/a> member Mireille van Eechoud<\/mark><\/a>, Professor of Information Law at the University of Amsterdam, recently participated in a LERU Talk about what digital sovereignty means for universities, and the role of tech companies. Preserving \u2018digital sovereignty\u2019 of universities and researchers is key to a successful digital transformation of the university sector. LERU Talks are run by the\u00a0League of European Research Universities (LERU)<\/a><\/mark>, which\u00a0is a network of leading European universities pushing the frontiers of innovative research. Prof. van Eechoud was also part of a team that recently conducted research commissioned by the Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam to investigate the digital transformation of the university. This resulted in the research project \u201cInformation Law and the Digital Transformation of the University\u201d. The research team, comprising eight Institute for Information Law (IViR) members, has developed research reports exploring different aspects of digital sovereignty of universities, including concrete recommendations to universities and law- and policymakers.
