alexander tsoutsanisAlexander Tsoutsanis was a senior researcher and lecturer at IViR. Alexander joined the University of Amsterdam in 2012, after 10 years at Leiden University, earning a PhD in 2005 and subsequently teaching IP law as an Assistant Professor for 6 years. Alexander taught at UC Hastings in 2009. Alexander is also a Legal Director at DLA Piper. He has litigated before the Court of Justice, General Court and the Benelux Court of Justice. He has a 12 year track record of publications and speaking engagements (including China, Germany, Latvia, Spain, Tanzania, UK, US). Alexander is the (co-)author of 4 books and over 30 articles. His works have been mentioned in 14 Dutch Supreme Court opinions. Current research interests include "privacy v piracy" and "prior art & innovation". Alexander is always happy to participate in new research projects. He has previously successfully completed projects for the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and the National Program for Information Technology and Law (ITeR). Alexander was also an expert for the EU-China IPR2 project. He sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Oxford University Press) and is also an editorial board member of a technology law journal in the Netherlands.
