Karlijn van den Heuvel started in September 2015 with the research master Information Law at IViR. Her research interests include the whole spectrum of information law, with a focus on privacy law.
Karlijn obtained her bachelor degree in Law at the University of Utrecht. She also holds a bachelor degree Communication and Information Studies from the University of Utrecht, 2013. During her time in Utrecht, Karlijn studied law for a year at Gonville and Caius College at the University of Cambridge. In 2016 Karlijn studied at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York city. There she successfully completed various courses, including Internet Law, Media Law and Privacy Law.
Karlijn wrote her master thesis on the applicability of the product liability directive on smart home devices in the event that cybersecurity vulnerabilities cause harm.
Karlijn has started working after her graduation as a junior associate at Stibbe Amsterdam in the TMT/IP department.
