IViR awarded HERA-ESF Collaborative Research Project Grant

From 2010-2013 IViR will head a 1 million euro research project entitled Of Authorship and Originality. Reclaiming Copyright in Support of Creative Collaboration in the Digital Environment. In collaboration with prof. Lionel Bently at the University of Cambridge and prof. Jostein Gripsrud at the University of Bergen, associate professor Mireille van Eechoud secured the grant in the highly competitive 'Humanities in the European Research Area' call 2009.
The HERA-ESF programme is a joint programme of national science foundations, set up to derive new insights from humanities research in order to address major social, cultural, and political challenges facing Europe. Within the theme 'Humanities as a Source of Creativity and Innovation', the multidisciplinary collaborative research project focuses on how theories from the Humanities on authorship and creativity can help rearticulate copyright norms that enable creative practices in the digital environment. Van Eechoud will lead the project in which three research teams consisting of post-docs, PhDs and senior researchers will take part.
